Lot 1:
Description
This collection comprises an assortment of mid-century table lighters in various materials and forms. The group includes a Ronson Le Dix model, featuring a cylindrical grey cast metal body with a textured finish, inscribed Le Dix to the side and Ronson Made in France to the base plate. A second Ronson example consists of a chrome-plated mechanism set into a bulbous, dark-turned wood base. Also featured is a turned light-coloured wood table lighter with a chrome-plated insert, the collar of which is clearly stamped F. Clark London 1945. The fourth item is a tall cylindrical lighter of matte grey metal, likely a zinc alloy or pewter, with a flared base and a flip-top mechanism; the underside bears an impressed circular touchmark depicting a central figure. The collection demonstrates a variety of mid-century industrial and artisanal designs, with wooden bases produced using turning techniques and metal components featuring cast and machined finishes.
Condition report:
The items are in vintage condition with signs of age and use throughout. The metal components show surface oxidation, light scuffs, and minor pitting, particularly to the grey cast metal surfaces. The wooden bases exhibit minor surface scratches, shallow indentations, and wear to the original finish, with some adhesive residue and wear to the undersides. While the mechanical components appear to be complete and move freely, they have not been tested for functionality and may require service or replacement parts for operation.
