Description
A trio of vintage fully jointed teddy bears, possibly of British manufacture such as Chad Valley or Chiltern. The bears are constructed from mohair plush with amber glass eyes and stitched facial features, and are stuffed with wood wool or excelsior. The largest bear features blonde mohair and is dressed in a yellow smocked cotton dress. The medium-sized bear has curly light tan mohair and retains a fragment of a red and green plaid ribbon around the neck. The smallest bear is made of golden mohair and features five-claw stitched detailing on the paws. No manufacturer labels, tags, or buttons are visible on any of the specimens.
Largest bear height: approximately 50cm.
Condition report:
Fair to poor. The bears show significant signs of age and heavy play-wear, including notable mohair thinning and loss, particularly on the smallest bear. The muzzle and paw pads of the largest bear exhibit thinning and some loss of stuffing. The plush on all three bears is soiled and matted in areas, and the paw pads show wear, abrasion, and some small holes.
