Description

An assortment of writing instruments comprising vintage fountain pens and contemporary pens. The collection includes two Cerruti 1881 models: a rollerball pen in black lacquer with a ribbed chrome-plated grip section and a fountain pen featuring a two-tone steel nib and a triple-banded cap. Also present is a vintage fountain pen made of chased black hard rubber (ebonite) with a wavy chevron pattern, which has oxidised to a dark brown hue, featuring a lever-filler mechanism and gold-tone nib. A second vintage fountain pen is crafted from marbled amber and brown celluloid, equipped with a lever-filler mechanism and gold-tone nib. Completing the assortment are two octagonal ballpoint pens featuring inlaid mother of pearl panels set within metal frames with beaded edges. The metal frames on these pens appear to be silver-plated or brass.

Longest pen length: approximately 14 cm.

Condition report:

The collection is in varied condition consistent with age and use. The chased ebonite fountain pen shows significant surface oxidation and discolouration. The metal components of the mother of pearl pens exhibit heavy tarnish and patina. General surface scratches, minor brassing to clips, and shelf wear are visible across the group. The internal filling mechanisms and ink flow of the fountain pens have not been tested.
