Description
An assortment of decorative items comprising various wooden boxes and a large rectangular serving tray. The tray features intricate geometric and floral chip-carving across the central well and is fitted with two brass-toned metal handles. Included are several boxes crafted from highly figured burr-wood, notably a rectangular example with a lid inset with two playing cards, the Jack of Clubs and Jack of Spades, under a glass panel. A yellow-lacquered box is decorated with a traditional Chinese landscape scene featuring a pagoda and calligraphic characters. A tall chest features a front panel with an embossed yin-yang symbol within scrolling foliage. Also present is a wooden box with decorative stringing and a keyhole, alongside several embossed metal boxes in brass and white metal tones, including an oval example with floral motifs and a rectangular brass box with relief decoration.
Condition report:
The collection is in fair to good condition, displaying surface wear, scuffs, and minor age-related distressing consistent with use and age. There are minor scratches to the wood finishes and some tarnishing to the metal elements.
