Lot 4:
Description
A trio of brass and mixed-material collectibles. The lot includes a single-draw pocket telescope, likely of English manufacture from the late 19th or early 20th century. The telescope is constructed of brass with a textured black cladding to the main barrel, possibly shagreen or leather. It retains its sliding eyepiece cover and is accompanied by a separate brass objective lens cap.
The second item is a World War I trench art sealing wax seal, fashioned from a brass rifle cartridge casing. The handle features an applied relief crest of the British Royal Coat of Arms, depicting the lion and unicorn supporters. The side of the casing is engraved with the date 1916 and further cursive script. The top of the seal is finished with two flared, scrolled elements.
The third item is a cast brass souvenir figurine of the Manneken Pis statue in Brussels. The figure is set on a circular base which bears the cast inscriptions MANNEKEN PIS and BRUXELLES.
Condition report:
The telescope is in operational condition with a functioning draw mechanism; the brass surfaces show natural patination and there is minor wear to the textured cladding. The trench art seal is in good antique condition with a well-developed patina and legible engraving. The figurine shows light surface oxidation and general wear consistent with age.
