Description

A late 19th-century carriage clock featuring a rectangular brass case with bevelled glass panels to the front, sides, and top. The clock is surmounted by an articulated carrying handle with fluted and knop detailing. The white enamel dial is set with Roman numeral hour markers and an outer minute track, with ornate pierced blued steel hands. Positioned below is a smaller auxiliary dial with Arabic numerals for alarm setting. The mechanical movement is an eight-day brass movement with a platform lever escapement and a strike-on-gong mechanism, featuring a coiled blued steel gong mounted to the backplate. The backplate contains small incised markings that are not clearly legible. The clock is accompanied by a numbered brass winding key stamped with the digits 200 325.

Condition report:

The brass case displays an aged patina with overall tarnishing and surface wear consistent with age and use. The enamel dial and bevelled glass panels appear to be in good condition without significant visible chips or cracks. The mechanical operation of the clock and alarm has not been tested.
