Description
This group of vintage games includes several items for traditional parlour pastimes. The chess set features cream and black plastic pieces with green felted bases, housed in a light-coloured wooden presentation case with a yellow felt-lined interior and custom-shaped compartments. Two sets of dominoes are included: one set in a green cardboard box printed with Wills’s Woodbine Dominoes, and a Double Six – 28 Piece Set in a red metal tin marked Traditional Parlour Games Dominoes. A set of three darts by The-Low Darts is present, featuring brass barrels and yellow plastic flights, accompanied by a clear plastic presentation case and a black leatherette pouch printed with The-Low Darts Made in England Fabrique En Angleterre T.H.W. Brass Approx. 22 Gms. The collection also includes three wooden cribbage boards: a large board with elaborate foliate and scrollwork carving and three red pegs; a rectangular board with a printed decorative surface featuring playing card suits and floral motifs; and a two-part wooden board with metal pegs.
Condition report:
The items are in good vintage condition with typical signs of age-related wear. There is scuffing to the boxes and minor surface marks on the wooden boards. The sets appear largely complete, though they have not been individually inventoried. Sold as a single lot.
