Lot 51:
Description
An English brass-cased carriage clock produced for Garrard and Co, the crown jewellers. The rectangular case follows a classic corniche design, featuring polished brass frames and five bevelled glass panels. The top panel contains a viewing aperture that reveals the mechanical 11-jewel platform lever escapement. The clock is fitted with a swinging rectangular handle with a knurled central grip. The white dial is set with a black Roman numeral chapter ring and an outer minute track, with black-finished poire style hands. The dial is printed Garrard and Co London W1 and Made in England. The rear movement plate is engraved Made in England and 11 Jewels, alongside a regulation scale marked S and F for slow and fast.
Condition report:
The brass case shows signs of surface tarnish, oxidation, and light scratching throughout consistent with age. The glass panels appear to be in good condition. The dial is clean with no visible cracks. The movement is complete; however, it has not been tested for timekeeping or long-term mechanical function.
