Description

This lot comprises three mid-20th century metal containers designed for household currency management and secure storage. The primary item is an olive green multi-compartment savings bank, attributed to the Dutch manufacturer Brabantia. The lid features seven vertical coin slots, each identified with white cursive Dutch script: Kolen (Coal), Gas-Licht (Gas/Light), Huishoud-art. (Household items), Kleding (Clothing), Vacantie (Holiday), Belasting (Taxes), and Diversen (Miscellaneous). The interior is divided into seven corresponding vertical sections to organise savings for specific household expenditures. The second item is a bright orange portable cash box with a fixed metal handle on the lid and a simple front-mounted lock. The third item is a gloss black metal cash box featuring a recessed chrome-plated handle and a removable six-compartment black plastic internal tray. Each box is constructed from pressed and painted metal and is accompanied by a single key.

Condition report:

All three items are in good vintage condition. The olive green savings bank shows minor surface scuffing and small chips to the paintwork at the edges, though the white lettering remains crisp and legible. The orange cash box exhibits light paint wear and surface scratches consistent with age and use. The black cash box retains a high-gloss finish with minimal surface marks. The locking mechanisms appear to be in working order, and keys are present for all three units.
