Lot 110:
Description
An assortment of clocks featuring an Art Deco mantel clock and three carriage-style clocks of various designs. The Art Deco mantel clock, circa 1930s, is housed in a wooden case with figured walnut and mahogany veneers, a stepped base, and a square chrome-plated bezel. The two-tone dial consists of a central wood panel and a cream-coloured chapter ring with stylised Arabic numerals. The 8-day mechanical movement is stamped with the crossed arrows mark of the Hamburg American Clock Company (HAC) and includes an internal brass plaque reading HAC MAKE. It strikes on a coiled gong and is accompanied by a brass-finish pendulum and a metal winding key. The collection also includes a President carriage clock with a gold-toned frame, silver-toned base, and a white dial featuring Roman numerals within shields. An Angelique carriage clock is presented in a gold-toned metal case with a top handle and finials, featuring a black dial with white Roman numerals. The final item is a contemporary chrome-plated carriage-style clock with a mirrored back panel and a large circular ring handle.
Condition report:
The Art Deco mantel clock shows minor age-related wear to the wood veneers and chrome bezel; the movement is untested but includes its pendulum and key. The President and Angelique clocks show light surface wear and minor tarnish to the metal finishes. The contemporary chrome clock appears in generally good condition. All clocks in this lot are sold as untested.
