Description
This collection comprises an assortment of antique decorative objects and desk accessories. The grouping includes a carriage-style clock housed in a green onyx or marble case with a beveled top and a brass carrying handle. The clock features an ornate brass dial with a silvered chapter ring and black Roman numerals. A wooden stationery box of rectangular form, likely oak or mahogany, features a flush-mounted brass swing handle and a brass escutcheon, with an interior divided into compartments for stationery storage. The lot contains a fitted wooden block with a graduated set of brass postal weights, which appears incomplete. A polished brass cylindrical case is fitted with two ring loops at the top. Decorative items include a cast metal Egyptian revival bust of Queen Nefertiti finished in a brass tone, mounted on a square plinth with a relief of a vulture. A metal repoussé religious icon depicts the face of Christ within a sunburst frame. Also included are multiple metal trinket and jewellery boxes: an ornate silver-plated box with floral and scrollwork designs on cabriole feet with a blue textile lining, a circular silvered box with an embossed foliate lid, and a rectangular metal box with a glass-inset lid. A white metal figure of a prancing horse is mounted on a circular green stone base. No maker’s marks or hallmarks are visible on the items provided.
Condition report:
The collection shows signs of age-appropriate wear. Metal surfaces exhibit varying degrees of tarnishing and surface oxidation, particularly to the silver-plated and brass items. The wooden stationery box and weight block show surface scratches and light scuffing. The onyx clock case and stone figurine base exhibit minor wear to the edges. The interior lining of the ornate jewellery box shows light wear. The clock and any mechanical components are sold as seen, with no guarantee of working order.
