Lot 13:
Description
A pair of porcelain vases of amphora form, manufactured by Victoria Schmidt and Company in Altrohlau, Bohemia, under the Victoria Austria trade name. Each vessel features an ovoid body, a slender tapering neck with a flared scalloped rim, and two scrolling handles with gilded highlights. The vases are decorated with pastoral scenes of cattle; one depicting a group wading in water and the other showing two animals grazing in a meadow. These scenes are set against an atmospheric landscape background of mountains and evergreen trees, with the reverse of each vase featuring stencilled trees. The undersides bear the green factory mark of a crown and the words Victoria Austria, along with hand-stamped numbers 315 and 328.
Height: 35 cm.
Condition report:
Both items exhibit visible vertical crazing to the glaze. One vase has a small chip to the foot rim. There is minor wear to the gilding on the handles and rims.
