Description
A diverse collection of curiosities and collectibles, featuring a jointed teddy bear with amber-coloured eyes and felt paw pads. Advertising ephemera includes a vintage orange and green cardboard box for Sloan’s Ink Eradicator, manufactured by the Waterman Pen Co. Ltd. Sporting memorabilia is represented by a pack of playing cards from the 1980 Lions Tour, featuring the British Lions rugby crest. A novelty trophy is included, depicting a cartoon bull holding a spoon, mounted on a base with a plaque inscribed THE SUTHERLAND PUTTER 10th JUNE 2017 THE WOODEN SPOON AWARD. Natural history items consist of a small black display box containing mineral specimens including pink halite and pyrite, alongside a polished mother-of-pearl shell. The lot also contains a blue glass perfume atomizer with a gold-toned pump, a circular ceramic flower frog with floral motifs, a silver-toned car-shaped corkscrew, a framed ceramic sun plaque with a metal handle, a carved wooden elephant, and a small green glazed ceramic turtle. Additional items include a large carved wooden smoking pipe, a floral needlepoint panel, and a wooden measuring rule with metal fittings.
The wooden measuring rule measures approximately 915 mm in length.
Condition report:
The items exhibit varying degrees of age-related wear and use. The cardboard advertising box shows shelf wear, creasing, and rubbing to the edges. The teddy bear displays minor thinning to the plush material. Metal elements, including the corkscrew and measuring rule hinges, show light oxidation and surface tarnishing. Surface dust is present across the collection. The ceramic and glass components appear generally intact with no significant chips or cracks visible upon inspection.
