Description
A wooden treasure chest style box featuring a domed lid, decorated in the folk art memory box tradition. The exterior is heavily encrusted with an eclectic mix of found objects and haberdashery items, including gold tone curb chains, plastic and metal buttons, faux pearls, seashells, and charms. Notable additions include small keys and international coinage, specifically an Italian 100 Lire coin. The interior contains a substantial quantity of mid to late 20th century costume jewellery. This assortment includes a large blue rhinestone hair slide, various plastic hair combs set with clear stones, a gold tone butterfly brooch, base metal bangles, and several floral motif brooches and necklaces featuring paste stones and imitation pearls.
Condition report:
The box is in good vintage condition with expected surface wear consistent with age and folk art construction. The jewellery contents are an unsorted bulk lot in variable condition. Some pieces exhibit tangled chains, missing stones, broken clasps, or surface tarnishing.
