Description
A large, elongated oval centrepiece bowl of hammered white metal construction, possibly nickel or silver-plated. The vessel features a planished texture across its entire surface, both interior and exterior. It is flanked by two handles fashioned from natural polished horn or stag antler, each finished with cylindrical metal caps and decorative ball-head rivets. The bowl has a shallow, boat-like form. There are faint, impressed markings on the underside of the bowl and a single small mark on the metal band at the base of one handle, though these are too indistinct to identify a specific maker or manufacturer. The item is designed in a rustic Arts and Crafts style.
Condition report:
The bowl shows surface wear consistent with age and use, including light tarnishing and minor surface scratches. The underside exhibits some dark circular marks, likely adhesive residue from former protective pads or feet. The natural horn handles show characteristic surface variation and minor wear to the metal caps.
