Lot 29:
Description
This lot comprises a trio of Beswick ceramic Shire horse figurines accompanied by a wooden two-wheeled farm cart. The horses are decorated in a gloss brown glaze with white blazes and characteristic white feathered legs. One figurine is depicted in a rearing pose on a green-tinted base and bears the incised mark BESWICK ENGLAND and model number 1014 on the underside, along with a circular black printed Beswick backstamp. A second figurine is standing and hitched to the cart with a detailed harness made of flexible dark material and metal chain accents. The third figurine is a standing Shire horse in a static pose. The cart is a wooden tipping-style farm wagon with red-painted spokes, black rims, and various metal hardware fittings. A wooden support rod is visible under the belly of the hitched horse to provide stability during display.
Total length of hitched horse and cart: 21 inches
Height of rearing horse: 10.25 inches.
Condition report:
The collection is in good overall condition with surface dust consistent with age. The harness on the hitched horse shows some minor stiffness and wear. A wooden support is present under the hitched horse. Potential buyers should inspect the delicate feathered legs for any minor hairline cracks or small chips common to these ceramic models.
