Description
A mid-20th-century decorative brass ensemble comprising a harnessed horse, a two-wheeled cart, and a separate water buffalo figurine. The horse is modelled in a walking pose with detailed harness work. The cart features spoked wheels and a deep cargo bed. Inside the cart is a removable figurine of a water buffalo, depicted with an upturned head and characteristic curved horns. The ensemble is of cast brass construction with hand-finished detailing. No maker marks, stamps, or signatures are visible. The styling and subject matter indicate an origin in East or Southeast Asia, produced for the decorative export market.
Length: Approximately 40 cm (16 inches).
Condition report:
The ensemble is in good vintage condition. The brass surfaces display a natural aged patina with dark surface toning and areas of greenish verdigris oxidation, primarily located in the recessed areas of the harness and wheels. Minor surface pitting is present, which is typical of the casting process. No structural damage, cracks, or repairs are visible.
