Lot 2:
Description
A large cast metal figurine of a bull, designed in the style of Victorian English decorative animal sculpture. The figurine depicts a standing bull of a beef breed, such as an Aberdeen Angus, with a muscular frame and short horns. The body is characterised by a deeply textured surface intended to simulate a thick coat of hair. The piece is constructed from a silver-toned white metal alloy with a brass-coloured finish applied to the surface. There are no visible maker’s marks, signatures, or factory stamps on the body of the figure.
Length: approximately 28 cm.
Condition report:
The figurine is in good overall condition with some signs of age and handling. There is surface oxidation and tarnishing, particularly in the recessed areas of the textured coat. A small patch of wear to the finish is present on the tip of the muzzle, revealing the silver-toned base metal beneath. Minor surface scuffs, scratches, and typical casting irregularities are present throughout.
