Lot 39:
Description
A utilitarian Bronze vessel of circular form, identified as a preserve pan or cauldron-style bucket. The body is constructed from Bronze and features decorative horizontal ribbing around the exterior, suggesting it was finished on a lathe. It is fitted with a wrought iron swing handle attached to the rim via two riveted metal lugs. The interior is unfinished. No maker’s marks, hallmarks, or stamps are visible on the interior or exterior surfaces of the piece.
Condition report:
The exterior displays a deep, aged copper patina with significant oxidisation and some iridescence. The interior is heavily tarnished with visible surface wear and spots of verdigris. There are various surface scratches, small dents, and minor abrasions throughout the vessel, all of which are consistent with its age and use as a functional household object. The handle and riveted attachments remain structurally sound.
