A large mid-20th century ceramic figure of a roaring male lion, depicted in a dynamic crouched pose with its mouth wide open. The figurine is finished in a high-gloss glaze with a tawny ochre-coloured body, featuring dark brown and black shaded highlights to define the textured mane, facial features, and paws. The musculature is realistically modelled throughout. The interior of the mouth is finished in a contrasting pink glaze with white teeth. The underside of the rear paw features a black ink stamp reading H-O ENGLAND.
Height: 28 cm
Length: 36 cm.
Condition report:
The figurine appears to be in good overall condition with the high-gloss finish remaining bright. No chips, cracks, or signs of restoration are visible from the provided images. There is typical minor shelf wear and light soiling to the unglazed contact points on the undersides of the paws.
