Lot 42:
Description
An assortment of decorative items and figurines, predominantly featuring bovine subjects. The collection includes a large ceramic teapot in the form of a black and white Holstein cow with a tail handle and a lid on the back. Also present is a bulbous cream-glazed ceramic cow money bank and a circular brown-glazed earthenware pot with a lid surmounted by a reclining calf figurine. The lot contains a bulbous ceramic planter decorated with a transfer-printed landscape and twin animal-head handles, a ceramic figurine of a woman in traditional dress with the base inscribed LATVIJA, and a ceramic model of a cow with a tan and orange glaze. Additional items include a framed needlepoint piece depicting a calf, a set of three matte-finished figurines representing the Three Wise Monkeys, a leprechaun figurine, a brass owl, glass animal figures, a ceramic bottle stopper with a male head, and various other miniature animal and human ornaments.
Condition report:
The collection generally appears to be in good condition, showing minor surface wear and dust consistent with age and display. The cream-coloured money bank has a blue adhesive sticker applied to the side. Potential bidders should note typical glaze crazing and manufacturing variations common to these types of decorative ceramics.
