Description
A vintage mid-20th-century corporate promotional letter opener commissioned by Franco Española de Alambres y Cables of Bilbao, Spain. The item is designed as a miniature sword, featuring a handle constructed from a section of genuine multi-strand braided steel wire cable, a thematic choice reflecting the company’s industrial focus. The handle is fitted with a polished metal pommel and collar. The crossguard terminates in ridged, barrel-shaped finials and is set with a central red enamelled triangular medallion displaying the letters S F E around a stylised cable reel logo. The polished steel blade is single-edged and bears the stamped inscription FRANCO ESPAÑOLA DE, ALAMBRES Y CABLES, BILBAO near the hilt. The letter opener is housed in its original red cardboard presentation box.

Condition report:
The letter opener remains in good vintage condition with bright polished surfaces and intact enamelling to the guard. The original red cardboard box shows light wear to the corners and edges. The interior yellow foam insert has become brittle and partially degraded due to age.
