Description
An antique fitted presentation case, likely designed to house a vanity tool such as a shoehorn or button hook. The exterior is finished with a brown pebble-grain material. The interior features a lid lined with pleated cream satin and a navy blue velvet-lined base with shaped indentations for the original contents. The case is constructed with a hinged lid and a brass push-button clasp. The form is characterised by a high, rounded section at one end which tapers to a long, flat profile. No maker’s marks or labels are present.
Length: approximately 24 cm.
Condition report:
The item shows significant signs of age and wear. The exterior exhibits scuffing and rubbing, particularly to the edges and base. The interior satin lining is creased and displays staining. The navy blue velvet lining shows prominent wear, including thinning of the pile and visible losses to the fabric. The clasp mechanism is functional.
