Description
A collection of mid-20th-century studio pottery from the South West of England, comprising pieces from Churston Pottery and Goonhavern Pottery. The assortment includes a pair of trumpet-shaped vases with flared rims and circular bases, each featuring a prominent relief scroll or ear decoration to one side of the body. Also included is a stylised pitcher or ewer of organic, abstract form with a curved body creating a central void and a flared, pointed pouring rim, alongside a stylised owl figurine depicted perched on a textured base. All items are finished in a dark brown gloss glaze with a thick, frothy cream-coloured fat lava or drip glaze application.
The pair of vases and the owl figurine bear rectangular silver foil labels for Churston Pottery, Devon & Cornwall. The undersides of the vases are additionally incised with the word Devon. The pitcher features an impressed circular mark to the base for Goonhavern Pottery, Cornwall.

Owl: Height approx. 12.5 cm.
Condition report:
The items are in good overall condition. Minor surface scuffs and small glaze imperfections, such as tiny glaze misses, are present and are typical of studio pottery production from this period. No significant chips, cracks, or signs of restoration are visible.
