Description
This is a vintage hand-printed porcelain enamel novelty wall plaque, manufactured by Dodo Designs (Mfrs) Ltd in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent. The plaque is titled THE RULES OF THIS HOUSE – PLEASURES & PASTIMES and displays a satirical list of prohibited guest behaviours including Swing from the Chandeliers, Lay hands on the Female Staff without Warning, and Assault the Musicians. The graphic design features a neoclassical pediment and columns in black line work with red and yellow accents on a white ground. The sign is constructed from metal with a hand-printed porcelain enamel finish and features scalloped top and bottom edges with mounting holes. The reverse is coated in black enamel with white printed text and a manufacturer logo. The inscription on the back reads: MADE IN ENGLAND BY DODO DESIGNS (MFRS) LTD, 8 LONSDALE GARDENS ROYAL TUNBRIDGE WELLS KENT, A GENUINE DODO, HAND PRINTED FINEST PORCELAIN ENAMEL, surrounding a circular dodo bird logo.

Condition report:
The plaque is in very good condition with vibrant colours and legible text. There are small areas of enamel loss and minor oxidation around the mounting holes at the top and bottom, consistent with age and previous hanging. The edges and main surface area remain well-preserved.
