Description

This group of ceramics comprises several pieces of Jasperware produced by Wedgwood, featuring characteristic white sprigged bas-relief decoration in the classical style. The primary item is a blue Jasperware mantel clock of architectural form with fluted columns and a pediment. The pediment is decorated with a sprigged laurel wreath containing the characters AD 2000. The clock face is marked WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND below the dial. The body features a central oval plaque with a classical female figure in a flowing gown. The collection also includes a blue Jasperware creamer with a flared rim and single handle, decorated with a frieze of classical figures and horses. A small rectangular blue Jasperware lidded trinket box is included, featuring a scene of classical figures on the lid and floral motifs to the sides. The group is completed by two small oval trays with scalloped rims, one in blue Jasperware and one in black Jasperware, both depicting putti playing beneath a tree.

Mantel clock height: 22.5 cm

Oval tray length: 11.5 cm.
