Lot 26:
Description
This collection of seven items comprises an assortment of vintage vanity accessories and decorative figurines. The group features a Vivaudou multi-function vanity tool in the Art Deco style, constructed from cream-coloured plastic. The device includes a handheld mirror that flips open to reveal a rouge or powder compartment, containing a powder mesh clearly marked with the Vivaudou manufacturer’s name in cursive script. The handle base extends to reveal a further compartment, likely for a lipstick or scent applicator.
The assortment includes two polished natural shell trinket purses or compacts, each fitted with a gilt-metal hinged frame and thumbpiece clasp, with natural pearlescent interiors. Also present are two owl figurines: a larger specimen in a mottled green material, possibly soapstone or a jadeite composite, and a smaller dark-patinated owl cast in metal or resin, depicted perched on a branch. Completing the lot is a small hand-painted glazed ceramic novelty piece depicting a character head wearing a red hat, and a vintage Singer brand dressmaker’s tape measure marked Made in England.
Large shell width: approx. 10.1 cm
Small shell width: approx. 6.3 cm
Green owl height: approx. 12.7 cm.
Condition report:
The items generally show signs of age-related wear and use. The plastic Vivaudou accessory exhibits some minor surface discolouration and yellowing consistent with age. The metal frames on the shell-form items show light tarnish and patina. The figurines and ceramic head appear to be in good overall condition with no significant chips, cracks, or visible repairs.
