Description

A collection of vintage electrical and industrial measuring instruments, likely dating from the early to mid-20th century. The assembly includes a Weston Electrical Instrument Corp. Model 443 DC voltmeter, manufactured in Newark, New Jersey, for Pritchett and Gold and E.P.S. Co. Ltd. This instrument features a black circular housing, a single pointed metal probe, and a dial calibrated from 0 to 3 volts, accompanied by its original stitched brown leather carrying case with a buckled strap. Also featured is a Short’s Gas Leak Indicator by Hattersley and Davidson Ltd of Sheffield, comprising a heavy cylindrical brass body with a top-mounted dial calibrated from 0 to 90. The lot includes two centre-zero ammeters: one manufactured by Joseph Lucas Ltd of Birmingham with a chrome-plated bezel and a -30 to +30 ampere scale, and a second similar AC ammeter. Additionally, there is a Cluto pocket-style voltmeter housed in a brass case with a 6-volt scale and a suspension ring. Completing the collection is an imperial micrometer gauge with a textured frame, presented in its original black textured case with a purple velvet-lined interior and an original paper inspection slip.

Short’s Gas Leak Indicator height: 12.5 cm

Weston voltmeter diameter: 7.5 cm

Micrometer case length: 13 cm.

Condition report:

The instruments are in fair to good vintage condition, exhibiting surface wear, authentic patina, and minor oxidation consistent with age and professional use. The dial faces show some internal dust and minor foxing. Glass covers appear clear and free of significant cracking. The leather case for the Weston meter shows scuffing and age-related wear to the strap. The mechanical needles appear to move freely, however, all items are sold as found and have not been tested for electrical or mechanical accuracy.
