Description
A cast resin figurine of Budai, the traditional Chinese symbol of happiness and prosperity. The figure is depicted in a characteristic seated pose with a protruding belly and a wide, joyful expression. He holds a gold-coloured ruyi sceptre in his right hand and a string of prayer beads in his left, with small red tassels hanging from both. The body of the figure has a polished, cream-coloured finish, while the robe is rendered with a stippled texture in shades of pale green and blue. This item is a contemporary decorative piece typical of export giftware.
