Lot 99:
Description
This lot comprises a collection of vintage straight razors and a diverse range of mid-20th-century curiosities and tools. The group includes several straight razors featuring steel blades and black synthetic scales, potentially manufactured from celluloid or vulcanite. The tangs bear maker marks that are currently obscured by surface oxidation. Accompanying the razors is a black cylindrical mechanical calculator bearing a label for Automatic Business Machines Limited, 11 Wyfold Road, London. Also included is a silver-tone Corgi Toys James Bond Aston Martin DB5, which retains its ejector seat mechanism and figures. The collection further contains a miniature violin with a bow housed in a velvet-lined case, a silver-tone desktop perpetual calendar, and a pocket watch with a white dial and Arabic numerals. Additional items feature a silver baby rattle with a mother-of-pearl handle, a mother-of-pearl style cigarette or card case, a rabbit figurine, and a wooden yardstick marked Singer and Made in England by The Singer Manufacturing Company.
Blade length: 75 mm.
Condition report:
The items are in varied vintage condition consistent with age and use. The straight razors exhibit significant patina, darkening, and areas of heavy surface oxidation and rust on the steel blades. The synthetic scales remain intact with expected surface scuffing. The Corgi Aston Martin shows moderate paint loss and wear. The mechanical calculator appears complete with minor surface dust. The miniature violin case, perpetual calendar, and other decorative objects show varying degrees of surface wear and oxidation. All items are sold as-is.
