Description

This lot comprises five vintage harmonicas manufactured in Germany, including four models by M. Hohner and one by F.A. Böhm. The M. Hohner examples feature a Super Chromonica chromatic model with a side-mounted slide button and embossed scrollwork, accompanied by its original red and black patterned cardboard box. Two curved tremolo harmonicas are included: one with maroon-painted cover plates decorated with silver-toned floral designs, and another with a silver-toned finish. Both curved instruments are stamped with M. Hohner trademarks and international exhibition medallions from Geneva 1927, Philadelphia 1926, Paris 1937, and Chicago 1893. A larger rectangular format M. Hohner harmonica is marked in the key of F and features two groups of six circular perforations on its cover plates. The F.A. Böhm harmonica is a straight-sided model with rounded ends, engraved with the maker name, the phrase The best made, and a maritime trademark depicting a three-masted ship. Construction across the collection includes metal cover plates, wooden combs, and brass reed plates.

Large rectangular M. Hohner: 7 inches

M. Hohner Super Chromonica: 5.5 inches

Curved M. Hohner models: 5 inches

F.A. Böhm harmonica: 4.5 inches.

Condition report:

The collection is in vintage, used condition. Visible signs of age and wear include surface pitting, oxidation, and scratches to the metal cover plates, most notably on the Super Chromonica and the F.A. Böhm model. The maroon-painted Hohner shows significant paint loss and abrasions to its decorative finish. The original cardboard box for the Super Chromonica exhibits edge wear, fraying, and structural softening. These items have not been tested for musical functionality or reed integrity and are sold as decorative or collectible pieces.
