Description
A collection of twenty-five gold-tone enamel lapel pins produced by Snickers as the official snack food sponsor for the 1994 FIFA World Cup held in the USA. The set is presented in its original black textured hinged case. The collection features twenty-four pins representing the participating nations of the tournament, each depicting the national flag alongside the official mascot, Striker the dog, holding a Snickers bar. The nations represented include Colombia, Switzerland, Norway, South Korea, Bulgaria, Argentina, Italy, Morocco, USA, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Bolivia, Cameroon, Mexico, Russia, Romania, the Netherlands, Spain, Nigeria, Ireland, Greece, Brazil, Sweden, and Belgium. The Saudi Arabia pin also features a depiction of the World Cup trophy. Positioned in the centre is a larger pin showing the mascot Striker in a dynamic pose with a football. The interior of the lid is lined with white satin-effect fabric featuring gold-tone printed branding for Snickers and WorldCup USA94, including copyright marks for Mars, Incorporated and WC 94/ISL.
Condition report:
The pins remain in excellent condition and are held securely within the original black foam insert. The interior white fabric lining of the lid displays age-related foxing and yellowish staining, primarily concentrated in the upper left corner. The exterior of the presentation case shows minor signs of shelf wear.
