Lot 55:
Description
A circular mantel or desk clock produced by the British manufacturer Metamec. The clock features a gold-tone metal bezel mounted on an integrated black textured plastic stand and rear housing. The champagne-coloured sunburst dial is set with black Arabic numerals and a minute track, featuring black sword-shaped hour and minute hands and a thin gold-tone sweep second hand. A small rectangular aperture is positioned below the centre of the dial. The dial is printed with the manufacturer’s name Metamec and is marked Made in England along the bottom edge. The reverse of the casing is embossed with battery replacement instructions in English and German and is marked W. German Movement. A gold-coloured foil label for the retailer Messrs Thomas Howie, Jewellers and Opticians, 86 High Street, Perth, is affixed to the back. The internal quartz movement is housed in a black plastic casing marked WS27c.
Condition report:
The clock is in good cosmetic condition with minor surface wear and light scratching to the metal bezel and plastic stand consistent with age. The dial and hands are well-preserved. The battery compartment is visible through an aperture in the rear casing and appears clean. The clock is battery-powered; it has not been tested for functionality and its working status is unknown.
