Description
This lot comprises two vintage needlework and sewing items of British origin. The first item is a tabletop wooden thread spool caddy with a dark-stained finish. The top platform features twenty-four vertical pegs arranged in three rows for the storage of thread spools. The base contains a single drawer with a facade designed to resemble three smaller drawers, fitted with three decorative blue floral-style knobs. The caddy is supplied with an assortment of vintage thread spools from various makers including Gutermann and Coats, along with a selection of sewing notions such as buttons and trim housed within the drawer. The second item is a vintage Penelope needlework tapestry kit, design number B 225, titled Winged Flurry. Produced by WM. Briggs and Co. Ltd. of Manchester, the kit is intended for a firescreen. It includes the original pictorial box, a hand-stencilled canvas, multiple hanks of tapestry wool, and the original instruction booklet. The canvas has been partially worked in a blue background section.

Condition report:
The wooden caddy displays signs of age and utility, including surface scuffs, scratches, and minor finish loss. The central drawer knob is of a different design to the two outer knobs. The tapestry kit box shows age-related toning and shelf wear. The kit is open and the canvas has been partially worked; the completeness of the wool supply is not guaranteed.
