Description
A collection of vintage technical drawing and mathematical instruments featuring items by A.W. Faber, Faber-Castell, and Staedtler. The lot includes a technical drawing set with various compasses, dividers, and ruling pens, presented in a maroon leatherette-covered hardshell case with a velvet lining. Slide rules comprise an A.W. Faber example in a black leatherette case gold-blocked with A.W. FABER and D.R.P. No 206428, a Faber-Castell model 1/54 in a transparent and green-ended case marked Darmstadt, and a white-faced slide rule in a black sleeve. Measuring instruments include a multi-fold wooden rule graduated in inches, a white triangular scale rule with colour-coded grooves, and a flat ivory-coloured scale rule. Accessories include two gold-tone tins marked MARS STAEDTLER with the Mars head logo, a Staedtler Noris 120 pencil box, a Lochie’s Improved Drawing Scales sleeve, and an Our World Collection Wildlife series box. The items are constructed from wood, brass, nickel-plated steel, celluloid, and tin.
Condition report:
The collection is in good vintage condition showing signs of professional use. Visible wear includes surface scratches and oxidation to the metal instruments. The cases and cardboard packaging exhibit scuffing, edge wear, and marking. The wooden rule displays a darkened patina consistent with age. Precision and completeness of the sets are not verified.
