Description

This lot comprises an assortment of mid-20th-century items, primarily of British origin. The ephemera includes a National Savings Certificate booklet with a blue-green cover printed with EVERYBODY’S GILT-EDGED SECURITY, and an On His Majesty’s Service official notification card from the Ministry of Labour and National Service, signed by J. Bowering and featuring an OFFICIAL PAID postmark from the George VI era. Optical equipment consists of a pair of EIKOW 3x magnification coated sport glasses with their original illustrated box, a large magnifying glass with a decorative silver-toned feather-form handle, and a pair of metal-framed spectacles on a black neck cord. Measuring tools include a Kamasa Tools 10-metre steel tape measure in its original retail box and a portion of a wooden rule bearing the SINGER Manufacturing Company trademark. Decorative items include a cast metal spaniel figurine on a wooden plinth and a hinged wooden box containing glazed ceramic animal figurines in the style of Wade Whimsies, an enameled metal official badge with crown and cypher, two bronze-toned commemorative medals, embroidered cloth patches including one for GENERAL OFFICE, and a small silver-coloured metal condiment spoon.

Condition report:

The National Savings booklet shows significant handling wear, creasing, and a small tear to the top corner. The OHMS card is age-toned with light creases. The EIKOW glasses and box show light age-related wear. The Kamasa tape measure and box are in good vintage condition with minor shelf wear. Ceramic figurines and other small collectibles within the wooden box appear generally intact with surface wear consistent with age. The wooden rule segment shows expected wear from use.
