Description
A Chinese porcelain ginger jar and matching domed cover, dating to the 20th century. The jar is constructed from glazed white porcelain and decorated with hand-painted polychrome overglaze enamels. The main body depicts a domestic garden scene featuring two female figures and children at play, set within a landscape of stylised blue rockery, a blossoming tree, and a red garden fence. The shoulder of the jar is decorated with a yellow-ground band containing a ruyi-head collar motif, while the base features a multicoloured striped border. The domed cover is decorated with a seated male child on a grassy mound. No maker’s marks or reign marks are visible.
Height: approximately 16.5 cm.
Condition report:
The jar appears to be in generally good condition. There is a prominent hairline crack visible on the domed cover. Minor surface wear and manufacturing glaze pops are present, consistent with age and production methods.
