Description
A large cylindrical vessel of hammered brass construction, featuring three distinct horizontal bands of repoussé and chased decoration. The upper register consists of a continuous scrolling floral vine with multi-petalled rosettes. The central frieze displays bold Arabic calligraphy in relief against a textured, punched ground. The lower register depicts a figurative scene with stylised animals, including a camel, an elephant, and a feline, set amongst floral and foliate motifs. The base is encircled by a band of overlapping petal or leaf patterns. The interior exhibits a heavy, dark patina and oxidation from previous use.
