Description
A large miscellaneous collection of costume jewellery housed in two storage cases. The first case is a novelty jewellery box designed as two stacked books, featuring embossed silver-toned metalwork in a style associated with Indian handicrafts, depicting elephants and foliate scrolls. The lid opens to reveal a red velvet-lined interior with a cantilevered mechanism supporting four small compartments above a main storage area, with a mirror mounted to the interior lid. The second case is a small, cream-painted wooden jewellery cabinet, equipped with four drawers and a single side door featuring a frosted glass panel with a floral motif. The interior of the cabinet includes hooks for hanging items. The accompanying jewellery is a mixed assortment of 20th and 21st-century fashion pieces, including multi-strand faux pearl necklaces in white, cream, and grey, faceted glass beads, chunky acrylic necklaces, base metal chains, and turquoise-coloured beaded bracelets.
Condition report:
Both jewellery boxes show signs of regular use. The metal-clad box exhibits surface oxidation and wear to the silver-toned finish. The cream wooden cabinet has minor surface scuffs, marks, and accumulated dust. The jewellery is heavily tangled and unsorted; individual pieces may be broken, missing stones, or require repair to clasps.
