Description
This lot comprises a pair of UK historical medals. The first is a British War Medal (1914-1918) struck in silver. The obverse features the coinage head of King George V with the legend GEORGIVS V BRITT: OMN: REX ET IND: IMP:. The reverse features the St George on horseback design with the dates 1914 and 1918. This medal is missing its original suspension mount and ribbon. The second item is a bronze school attendance medal issued by the Walthamstow Education Committee. The obverse displays the Walthamstow coat of arms, featuring three seaxes and a sailing ship, surrounded by the inscription WALTHAMSTOW EDUCATION COMMITTEE. The reverse is inscribed AWARDED TO FOR REGULAR AND PUNCTUAL ATTENDANCE 1910 within a laurel wreath. This medal is fitted with a decorative white-metal scroll-form suspension pin.
Condition report:
The British War Medal shows significant surface toning, scattered light scratches, and several small edge knocks. The suspension bar and ribbon are absent. The school attendance medal exhibits moderate surface wear and age-related toning. The suspension pin is intact and functional. Both items are in good to very fine condition.
