Description
A vintage automotive mascot manufactured by Desmo of Birmingham, England. This large-scale hood ornament depicts an eagle with outspread wings perched atop a spherical base. The manufacturer mark DESMO is cast in relief on the upper surface of the tail feathers. The item is constructed from cast metal with a plated finish. A threaded mounting stud is integrated into the base and is currently fitted with two hexagonal nuts.
Wingspan: 33 cm (13 inches).
Condition report:
The mascot is in used vintage condition with wear consistent with age and external exposure. The plated finish displays widespread pitting and surface loss. Significant green oxidisation and verdigris are present within the recessed details of the casting and tail feathers. The original mounting stud and nuts show heavy surface corrosion. The casting remains structurally sound with no visible breaks or repairs.
