Lot 129:
Description
This collection comprises four decorative ceramic items from various prominent manufacturers. Included is a Royal Doulton earthenware character jug titled Dick Whittington, Lord Mayor of London. Modelled by William K. Harper, this large jug is part of a special edition of 5000 and is hand-numbered 487 to the base. The handle is intricately formed as a signpost marked LONDON with a hanging knapsack. The group also features a circular Limoges porcelain lidded trinket box, finished in a deep cobalt blue ground with extensive gilt foliate and scroll decoration. The lid has a central white reserve decorated with a multi-coloured floral bouquet. The base bears a gold Limoges France factory mark. Also present is a Carlton Ware leaf-shaped dish with a matte dark brown exterior and an iridescent mother-of-pearl lustre glaze to the interior, finished with a gilt rim and bearing the Carltonware script mark. Completing the assortment is a sage green jasperware lidded jar in the style of Wedgwood, decorated with white sprigged relief motifs of vines and grape leaves.
Measurements:
Royal Doulton jug: 17cm height
Limoges box: 13cm diameter
Carlton Ware dish: 14cm length
Jasperware jar: 12cm diameter.
Condition report:
All items appear to be in good overall condition. No chips, cracks, or visible repairs were observed during inspection. There is some minor surface dust and light wear consistent with age and display, including very slight rubbing to the gilded rims and details on the Limoges and Carlton Ware pieces.
