Lot 131:
Description
This lot comprises several Japanese decorative and functional objects. A baluster-form ceramic vase features a crackle-glaze finish with hand-painted polychrome enamel decoration in the Nanking style, depicting a military scene with mounted warriors and horses. A large circular wooden charger is carved in the Kamakura-bori technique with a textured background and central butterfly and floral motif, finished in a dark reddish-brown lacquer. The collection includes two lacquered wood boxes: a rectangular black box with a lid decorated with two painted dragons and a central pearl, containing four interior compartments, and a second reddish-brown stained wooden box featuring relief-carved animal finials. Also included is a 1996 Hitachi corporate commemorative framed ukiyo-e print reproduction, a National Seal kit, a stick of yellow sealing wax in original packaging, and a pair of dark wooden sticks.
Vase height: 18 cm
Charger diameter: 24 cm
Dragon box length: 31 cm.
Condition report:
The ceramic vase has a significant chip and loss to the ceramic body on the lower edge of the foot rim. The black lacquer dragon box shows minor surface wear and small losses to the finish along the edges. The carved wooden accessory box has light scuffs to the stained finish. Other items, including the charger and Hitachi print, appear to be in good condition. The sealing wax remains in its original unopened retail packaging.
