Description
A large collection of desk accessories, primarily comprising letter openers and paper knives of various styles and origins. The group includes multiple sword-themed openers, featuring Toledo-style scimitars with engraved blades, sabres, and a Scottish claymore with a thistle-motif hilt. Notable novelty items include a paper knife with a natural stag horn handle, one featuring a golf ball secured within a spiral wire cage finial, and cast metal examples topped with fox and owl head finials. Several souvenir-style paper knives are present, some featuring enamelled shields or crests, and another with a handles depicting Celtic-style knotwork. The collection includes a silver-toned metal letter opener in a presentation box marked Porreda Fine Gifts. Also included are a small number of slender metal implements, likely propelling pencils or ballpoint pens, and a miniature sword-shaped instrument in a clear plastic case, resembling a novelty writing instrument. Materials throughout the collection include brass, chrome-plated steel, white metal, enamel, and composite handle elements.

Condition report:
The collection is in a varied state of condition consistent with age and previous use. Many of the brass and plated metal pieces exhibit surface oxidation, tarnishing, and visible brassing where the plating has worn through. The stag horn handle appears to be in good structural condition. Blades on the letter openers show various degrees of surface scratching and light wear. Presentation boxes exhibit shelf wear and some scuffing but remain intact.
