Description
This lot consists of three decorative items featuring enamel work. The collection includes a Chinese export cloisonné thimble, crafted from gilt metal and decorated with an owl motif among ruyi-style clouds on a light blue ground, with a deep cobalt blue enamelled interior. The second thimble is a souvenir item featuring a red Jerusalem cross within a white medallion on a blue ground, likely executed in champlevé or cloisonné enamel on gilt metal with a stippled top and turquoise enamelled interior. The trio is completed by a small circular trinket box of silver-toned metal, decorated with intricate filigree and granular beadwork in a style resembling Tibetan metalwork. The lid is inset with three circular cloisonné enamel cabochons in various colours including red, light blue, and cream. No maker’s marks or hallmarks are visible on the exterior or interior of these items.
Measurements: height/diameter approximately 2cm to 2.5cm.
Condition report:
The thimbles are in good overall condition with minor wear to the gilt finish consistent with age. The trinket box exhibits surface tarnish and green oxidation (verdigris) in the recessed areas of the filigree metalwork. The enamel on all three items appears intact with no significant losses or cracks observed.
