Description
A brass-mounted desktop weather forecasting instrument by Nauticalia. The device comprises an arched brass faceplate set onto a black-finished stand. The front is engraved with BAROMETER READINGS MILLIBARS AT SEA LEVEL and WEATHER FORECASTER. It features a central rotating disc calibrated from 950 to 1050 millibars with viewing apertures for pressure trends indicated as RISING, STEADY, and FALLING. Below the dial is a scale for DIRECTION OF WIND and a window at the base for TODAY’S FORECAST, which displays weather predictions such as J CHANGEABLE, MENDING. The instrument is adjusted using a side-mounted lever for wind direction and knurled brass knobs for barometric pressure and forecast selection. The reverse side features a brass instruction plate titled HOW TO USE THE WEATHER FORECASTER, detailing the four-step process for calculating a forecast and noting seasonal variations for Summer (April to September) and Winter (October to March). Marked Nauticalia at the base of the front plate.

Condition report:
Good overall condition with minor surface wear and light scratches to the brass components consistent with age and use. There are small scuffs to the black finish on the edges of the base. All mechanical parts, including the rotating dials and sliding forecast reel, appear to be functional.
