Description

Antique Millington and Miller patented shade ring pincers and light bulb remover. This specialised mechanical tool is constructed with a turned hardwood handle and a ferrous metal gripping assembly. It features a spring-loaded dual-jawed head with inward-facing serrated grippers, operated via a plunger mechanism at the base of the handle. The wooden handle is stamped with the words MADE IN ENGLAND. This device was originally designed to assist with the removal and installation of shade rings and light bulbs in intricate lighting fixtures.
Length: 15cm.

Condition report:

The tool is in fair condition, showing significant signs of age and use. The metalwork exhibits widespread surface oxidation and rust, notably on the jaws and central spring mechanism. The turned hardwood handle has a darkened aged patina with visible surface scratches and minor indentations. The mechanical function appears intact, though the movement is likely stiff due to the presence of corrosion.
