Description
A nineteenth-century British naval-style signalling cannon featuring a cast bronze barrel mounted on a stepped wooden carriage. The barrel is secured by metal trunnion straps and screws, and the carriage is fitted with four small wooden wheels or trucks. The upper surface of the barrel near the breech displays an incised P proof mark positioned directly above a broad arrow symbol, which traditionally denotes British government or Board of Ordnance property. The metal barrel possesses a deep, dark brown patina. The wooden carriage is finished in a dark brown tone.

Condition report:
The wooden carriage shows significant signs of age and use, including substantial wear and losses to the dark brown paint finish and various surface scuffs. The bronze barrel exhibits a dark patina with scattered surface scratches revealing the lighter metal beneath. The metal screws and trunnion straps show visible surface oxidation and corrosion consistent with age.
