Description
A collection of East Midlands (Midland) style lace-making bobbins crafted from a variety of materials including turned dark wood, light-coloured wood, and bone or bone-coloured synthetic material. Most bobbins are fitted with wire-mounted glass bead spangles, which serve as weights during the lace-making process. Decorative elements across the group include wire wrapping and multi-coloured glass beads. Notable inscribed examples include a cream-coloured bobbin with the word Merry in cursive script and another inscribed LACE CATS CLUB. The collection is accompanied by a pair of circular white lace food covers, each finished with a hand-stitched border of multi-coloured glass and plastic beads. The items are stored in a vintage wooden Henri Wintermans cigar box, featuring a printed crest with a lion rampant and a crown.

Condition report:
The collection is in good vintage condition. The bobbins are generally well-preserved with most spangles present. Some minor surface wear and natural patination are visible on the materials. The lace covers show light handling wear but remain free from significant damage or tearing. The wooden box shows typical scuffs, surface marks, and edge wear consistent with age and use as a repurposed storage container.
