Description
A vintage British police duty rig comprising a black leather belt with two associated equipment pouches, two wooden truncheons, and two pairs of chain-link handcuffs. The belt features a silver-tone buckle and holds a large rectangular utility pouch and a smaller shaped handcuff pouch, both with single snap-fastener closures. One truncheon is constructed from light-coloured turned wood with a smooth finish and rounded pommel. The second truncheon is made of dark-stained wood and features a distinctive ribbed grip. The set includes two pairs of nickel-plated steel handcuffs manufactured by Hiatt. The first pair is marked HIATT MADE IN ENGLAND and serial numbered 20244. The second pair is dated 1970 and bears the Broad Arrow (↑) government property mark. Two keys are included.
Truncheons: approximately 28 cm – 30 cm in length.
Condition report:
The set is in service-worn, vintage condition. The leather components exhibit surface scuffing and cracking consistent with age and use. The light wooden truncheon shows significant wear and loss to the original finish. The handcuffs display surface pitting, minor oxidation, and wear to the nickel plating.
